Are you trying to stay with a goal while new interests, setbacks, or low-energy days pull you in different directions? The Short Grit Scale (Grit-S) offers eight self-report answers about consistency of interest and perseverance of effort. This workbook gives you paper space to answer, calculate a continuous average, and consider what the two facet scores show about your current approach. The scores have no established low, moderate, or high bands and do not predict an individual's achievement.
The pack contains 29 pages across nine PDF files, supplied in both A4 and US Letter. Start-Here lays out a 15-minute start and a six-week path. Measures includes the eight statements, scoring steps, a worked example, and a profile chart. Ten Worksheets include a goal ladder, Distraction log, Setback plan, One-week finish line, and hard-day page. Trackers provide a six-week practice grid, weekly reviews, monthly overview, and score history. Quick Reference has a scoring summary and cut-out cards; the three-page Guide explains the facets and limits of interpretation. A separate three-page Clinician Guide and one-page Credits file complete the pack.
Begin in one sitting, then follow weekly prompts at a pace that suits you. Record a baseline, choose a goal, try one practice at a time, and note what you did and what got in the way. The path ends with another Grit-S and a score-history entry after six weeks; treat change as a reflection point, not a verdict. You finish with your answers, facet and total averages, goal and practice notes, and a record to revisit or discuss with a qualified professional.

Questions people ask
How is the Short Grit Scale scored in this workbook?
Items 1 through 4 are reverse-scored by subtracting each answer from 6; items 5 through 8 count as answered. Divide each four-item facet sum by 4, and divide the total of all eight points by 8. The result is a continuous average from 1.0 to 5.0, with no established cutoff bands.
Can I print the Grit-S workbook on A4 or US Letter paper?
Yes. The pack is supplied as PDF files in both A4 and US Letter sizes. It contains nine files with 29 pages total: a cover, start guide, measures, worksheets, trackers, quick reference, reading guide, professional guide, and credits.
How often should I repeat the Grit-S?
The workbook's six-week path suggests taking the Grit-S again at the end of six weeks and plotting both results in Score history. It also notes that small changes between re-tests are normal and mean little on their own, so use the record as reflection rather than a prediction.
